IndiGo Aircraft Incident: Runway Delay in Delhi

IndiGo Aircraft Incident

IndiGo Aircraft Misses Taxiway

A Delhi-bound IndiGo flight from Amritsar encountered an unexpected mishap upon landing at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in Delhi. Instead of reaching the taxiway, the A320 aircraft veered off and reached the dead end of runway 28/10, causing a 15-minute delay as the runway was blocked.

Impact on Flight Operations

The incident disrupted some flight operations at the airport until an IndiGo towing van came to the rescue, pulling the aircraft from the runway’s dead end to a parking bay.

Previous Incidents

This isn’t the first time IndiGo faced issues at Delhi’s IGIA. In June last year, another IndiGo aircraft experienced a tail strike upon landing, leading to the grounding of the operating crew by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

Tail Strike Incident Details

During the landing approach on runway 27, the crew of flight 6E-6183 from Kolkata to Delhi noticed an abnormal floating sensation, prompting a go-around maneuver. However, during this process, the aircraft’s tail struck the runway surface, causing damage.

Crew Action and Investigation

Following the tail strike incident, the operating crew was taken off active duty pending investigation by the DGCA. IndiGo confirmed the occurrence of the tail strike during the landing in Delhi.
