Prime Minister Narendra Modi has lauded the Cabinet’s nod to six multi-tracking projects for Indian Railways, citing their potential to enhance transportation efficiency and alleviate congestion on busy railway networks. Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) Approval

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Modi, granted approval for the multi-tracking railway projects across six states earlier in the day. With a total capital outlay of Rs12,343 crore, these projects will span regions in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, and Nagaland.

Key Project Details

The approved projects encompass various routes, including Ajmer-Chanderiya, Jaipur-Sawai Madhopur, Luni-Samdari-Bhildi, Agthori-Kamakhya, Lumding-Furkating, and Motumari-Vishnupuram. These initiatives will extend the Indian Railways network by 1020 kilometers and generate employment opportunities, providing approximately 3 crore man-days of work in the respective states.

Focus on Connectivity and Economic Growth

Emphasizing the significance of these projects within the framework of the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan, the statement highlighted their role in promoting multi-modal connectivity. Integrated planning has paved the way for seamless movement of people, goods, and services, aligning with the government’s vision for comprehensive infrastructure development.
