Gokulpuri Metro Station

In response to the tragic incident at Gokulpuri Metro Station, where a section of the wall collapsed, claiming the life of a 53-year-old man and injuring several others, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has taken swift action.

Compensation for Victims’ Families

The DMRC has pledged Rs 25 lakh as compensation for the family of the deceased. Additionally, Rs 5 lakh will be provided to those severely injured, while Rs 1 lakh will be given to individuals with minor injuries. The decision to increase the compensation comes after an initial announcement of lower amounts.

Suspension of Officials

Two DMRC officials, including a manager and a junior engineer from the civil department, have been suspended in connection with the incident pending further investigation. This move underscores the seriousness with which the DMRC is addressing the situation.

Expert Committee Formation

In response to the Delhi government’s directive, the DMRC will form an expert committee to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding the wall collapse at Gokulpuri Metro Station. This committee will assess the incident and recommend measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future.

Safety Measures and Restoration Efforts

Following the incident, DMRC’s managing director has instructed all relevant departments to conduct comprehensive safety checks across the entire Delhi metro network. Immediate measures are being taken to ensure the safety of passengers and prevent any further risks.

Temporary Service Disruption

As a precautionary measure, train services on the stretch from Maujpur to Shiv Vihar have been temporarily suspended to facilitate repairs at Gokulpuri Station. However, services on the rest of the Pink Line are operating normally.

The DMRC is fully committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of passengers and will continue to provide updates on the situation as it progresses.
